Quick answers

How many grill brushes were recalled in 2026?

About 21 million, across four separate CPSC recalls: Weber recalled over 3.2 million brushes (Feb 26, 2026), Nexgrill recalled over 10.2 million (Mar 2026, sold at Home Depot), Conair recalled about 3.6 million Cuisinart brushes after the Aug 27, 2026 expansion, and Walmart recalled about 4.48 million Expert Grill brushes on Oct 1, 2026. All four cite the same ingestion hazard: metal wire bristles detaching and ending up in food.

What should I replace a recalled brush with?

A bristle-free brush — coiled wire, stiff nylon, or a scraper edge instead of individual metal bristles, so there is nothing to shed into your food. Two picks verified across every Grill Patrol guide: the coiled-wire bristle-free brush (the standard pick) and the GRILLART steam-cleaning bristle-free brush (the step-up for frequent grillers). Both are compared in full in the bristle-free buyer's guide →

Safe replacement: bristle-free brush

If you have a recalled brush, you need a replacement before your next cook. Grill Patrol only recommends bristle-free brushes: coiled wire or stiff nylon heads with no individual metal bristles that can snap off and end up in your food.

  Bristle-free grill brush + scraper

A coiled-wire scraper head: the cleaning surface is one continuous coil, so no single metal bristle can snap off, stick to a grate bar, and end up in food. A built-in scraper edge on the back handles baked-on carbon the coil misses. Preheat the grill about 10 minutes, then scrub with firm strokes. The bristle-free pick in every Grill Patrol kit.

  GRILLART bristle-free steam brush

A heavier-duty bristle-free head with a replaceable cleaning pad. Steam-cleans grates without any wire that can break off into your food. Step up if you grill often.
